Philip J. Deloria is a Professor of History at Harvard University whose work focuses on Native American history and its intersections with U.S. culture and politics. He is the author of Playing Indian and Indians in Unexpected Places, and co-author of American Studies: A User’s Guide. His current work explores mid-20th-century Native art. A former president of the American Studies Association and trustee of the National Museum of the American Indian, Deloria is also a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
